Vinesh Phogat becomes first Indian woman wrestler to reach Olympic final

Paris: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has created history at the Paris Olympics 2024. Vinesh Phogat is the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the final of the Olympics. She defeated Cuba’s Yusnilis Guzman Lopez 5-0 in the semifinals of the 50 kg women’s freestyle 50 kg category.

With Vinesh reaching the finals, India’s medal is assured. Vinesh Phogat created history by defeating Japan’s defending champion Yui Tsusaki in the pre-quarterfinals, shocking the world in the day. She then defeated Ukraine’s Oksana Liwach in the quarter-finals. Vinesh is up against Cuba’s Yusnilis Guzman Lopez for a place in the final.
