Was jailed so BJP could project me ‘chor’, but everyone knows I am not corrupt: Kejriwal
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, alleging that he was arrested and sent to jail because the ruling party wanted to project him as a “chor”, while in reality even his “most radical” enemy knows that he is not corrupt.
The former Delhi chief minister held a roadshow in favour of party candidate Harpinder Singh in Rania constituency in Haryana’s Sirsa district. The Haryana Assembly elections will be held on October 5.
Addressing the people during the roadshow, Kejriwal said that he had to spend five-and-a-half months in jail without any reason. “What was my fault? My fault was to be the Chief Minister of Delhi for 10 years, where I built good schools for the children of the poor. Earlier, there used to be power cuts for 7-8 hours in Delhi, but now there is electricity almost all the time. My fault was that I have made electricity free in Delhi and Punjab.”
In a scathing attack on the BJP, he said, “I was thrown in jail because they want to hurt my honesty. But people know they are not ‘thieves’,” he said.
