Who is Jyoti Malhotra? Travel vlogger arrested for spying for Pakistan

Chandigarh: The Haryana Police have arrested YouTuber and social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra on charges of espionage.

She is accused of spying for Pakistan and allegedly sharing confidential information related to India’s military activities, including details about a sensitive operation referred to as Operation Sindur.

According to officials, Malhotra had visited Pakistan last year, during which she reportedly met senior officials of the neighbouring country. Her arrest comes amid a larger probe into an espionage network suspected of passing sensitive information to Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.

Jyoti Malhotra hails from Hisar district in Haryana and has mentioned Hisar as her hometown on her Facebook profile.

She studied at Kurukshetra University and gained popularity as a travel vlogger under the YouTube channel Travel with Joe. She has over 377,000 subscribers on YouTube and 131,000 followers on Instagram.

Known for her travel content, Malhotra built a significant online presence before being linked to espionage activities.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into how she came into contact with Pakistani officials and the nature of the information allegedly shared.
