‘Will put pressure on govt to get legal guarantee of MSP,’ Rahul Gandhi after meeting farmers unions
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, after meeting a delegation of farmer leaders on Wednesday, said the ‘INDIA’ bloc will put pressure on the government to ensure a legal guarantee of minimum support price to farmers.
Farmer leaders from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka met Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament House complex and the delegation apprised Gandhi of the problems.
“We will hold talks with the leaders of the INDIA Alliance and put pressure on the government to get a legal guarantee for minimum support price to the farmers,” Gandhi told reporters after the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Congress leaders Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Gurjit Singh Aujla, Dharamvir Gandhi, Amar Singh, Deepender Singh Hooda and Jai Prakash.
