Woman burnt alive due to fire in Hamirpur forest

Shimla: A 75-year-old woman was charred to death in a forest fire in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, police said on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Nikki Devi, a resident of Bagaitu village in Hamirpur.

The forest fire had reached the fields of Nikki Devi, which she was trying to extinguish, but she herself got caught in it and burnt alive.

The body has been handed over to the family members after postmortem. This is the second death due to forest fire in Hamirpur district in 15 days.
