Wrestler Vinesh Phogat defeats BJP candidate in Julana

New Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Congress candidate and wrestler Vinesh Phogat has defeated BJP’s Captain Yogesh Bairagi in the closely watched Julana seat in Haryana’s Jind district. Phogat secured victory by a margin of 5,761 votes.

Initially, Bairagi was leading the race by 3,641 votes after four rounds of counting, but Phogat made a strong comeback to clinch the seat.

Despite this loss for the BJP in Julana, the party remains on track to retain power in Haryana, with a commanding lead in the overall vote count.

The Julana constituency garnered nationwide attention this election, with the Congress fielding Phogat, a prominent wrestler, against BJP’s Bairagi.
