Advance polling begins for Canada’s federal elections scheduled on April 28
Toronto: Canada’s federal elections are set to take place on April 28, but advance polling opened on Friday for those who wish to cast their vote earlier. Registered voters can vote at their designated polling stations from April 18 to April 21, between 9 am and 9 pm. Voting is also available through mail or in-person special ballots at the nearest Elections Canada office.
Information regarding advance voting is available on voters’ voter cards. However, officials have clarified that the polling station listed for general election day may differ from the one designated for advance voting.
Unlike provincial elections, where voters can vote at any polling station within their province, federal elections require voters to cast their ballot at their assigned station. Those uncertain about their registration status can check it through Elections Canada’s online voter registration service.
According to data released earlier this month, 130,000 Canadians have already voted through special ballots. These ballots are issued to voters who prefer not to wait for Election Day or the advance polling period.
This election will determine the representatives for 343 seats in the House of Commons, an increase from the previous 338.
