Akal Takht Panj Pyaras reject Patna Sahib’s decision, call it ‘unprincipled’ and divisive

Amritsar: The Panj Pyaras of Sri Akal Takht, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib have rejected the recent decision by the Panj Pyare Sahiban of Takht Sri Patna Sahib, calling it “unprincipled” and “unreasonable.”

A meeting was held on Thursday at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, where acting Jathedar Giani Baldev Singh, along with the head granthi and granthis, dismissed a decision taken by the Akal Takht.

Giani Baldev Singh also referred to Akal Takht’s acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib’s Jathedar Tek Singh Dhanaula as salaried individuals.

In the same case, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal was given 10 days to present his case, after being named as a conspirator. He has been summoned to appear before Takht Sri Patna Sahib to provide clarification.

Reacting to the developments, the Panj Pyaras of Sri Akal Takht—Bhai Kulwant Singh, Bhai Sukhdev Singh, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh, Bhai Raspal Singh, and Bhai Sandeep Singh—held a meeting on Thursday and condemned the move by Takht Sri Patna Sahib.

They accused the granthi Singhs there of damaging Panthic unity and tarnishing the image of the Sikh community.
