Captain Amarinder Singh to be new Maharashtra Governor!
Punjabenews: Captain Amarinder Singh is likely to be nominated as next governor of the Maharashtra after incumbent governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has tendered his resignation, sources in the BJP said.
Former Punjab CM has recently emerged his party into BJP after leaving Congress.
He was also an elected member of the Legislative Assembly from Patiala and president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. He had earlier served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007. His father was the last Maharaja of patiala state. He has also served in the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he won from Amritsar seat.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he won from Amritsar seat. Captain Singh resigned as the Chief Minister of Punjab on 18 September 2021.
On 19 September, Captain Amarinder Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and also merged his party Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) with the BJP.
