Channi’s remarks on Poonch terror attack a violation of model code of conduct: Punjab CEO

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C on Tuesday said Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi’s remarks terming the Poonch terror attack as an “election stunt” were in violation of the model code of conduct.

An Air Force solider was martyred in the attack. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab told a news agency that he has written to the Election Commission of India for further action on the matter.

“As per the report of the District Election Officer of Jalandhar, Channi’s remarks are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.”
