Delhi liquor policy: Kejriwal not appearing before ED, summons illegal: AAP
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today for questioning in a money laundering case related to the excise policy, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said.
The party termed the sixth summons issued by the agency to its national convener as “illegal” and urged the ED to await the court’s decision instead of repeatedly summoning Kejriwal.
Despite being summoned several times, Kejriwal did not join the questioning, prompting the ED to file a complaint in court. On Saturday, the court granted relief to Kejriwal from personal appearance in connection with a complaint filed by the central agency.
The application, filed by Kejriwal’s counsel, stated that the budget session of the Delhi Assembly began on February 15 and will continue until the first week of March. It further said that Kejriwal will appear in person before the court on the next hearing date, which is March 16.
