Farmers to resume march towards Delhi amid blockage by Haryana government
New Delhi: After a brief halt at the Shambhu border, farmer organizations have announced their next course of action in their ongoing protest.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, a prominent farmer leader, said that if the government does not extend an invitation for talks, a group of 101 farmers will march back to Delhi on December 8. “We are just waiting for the government’s call,” Pandher remarked.
The health of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike, remains stable, while 16 farmers injured during the march are still receiving medical care.
Among them, Harpreet Singh’s condition is critical, and he has been transferred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Police has not issued a formal invitation for discussions, which has further strained the situation. The police have also released a notice advising media personnel to maintain a safe distance from the protesting crowds, particularly at the Shambhu border.
Additionally, the Punjab DGP has been requested to restrict media access within 1 km of the border.
The farmers continue to await government engagement as tensions remain high at protest sites.
