Governor, Mann Govt face-to-face again over PAU VC appointment

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday wrote a letter to Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit over the appointment of Satbir Singh, vice-chancellor of the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.  He said that the appointment of the Vice Chancellor has been made on the basis of rules.

The letter, in response to Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, said the governor and the chief minister cannot interfere in the appointment of the vice-chancellor. The Vice Chancellor has been appointed under the Punjab Agricultural University Board.

There is a letter circulating in the media which is in Punjabi, in which it was allegedly written by the Chief Minister, Punjab, regarding the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of PAU, Ludhiana to the Governor, Punjab. 

This letter has not been received by the Punjab Raj Bhawan till date.

However, the letter received at the Punjab Raj Bhawan is in English and the contents of both the letters are different. The Punjab Raj Bhawan has sought an explanation from the Chief Minister as to which of his two letters are authentic and why the letter written in Punjabi has been circulated in the media before and without sending it to the Punjab Raj Bhawan.
