Himachalites and Punjabis should travel without fear, says Jathedar Gargaj
Amritsar: Amid ongoing tensions between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, around 50 students and teachers from Government College in Badsar, Himachal Pradesh, visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday.
The delegation met Akal Takht’s acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, who emphasized the need for mutual love, brotherhood, and harmony between the two states.
The students, on a three-day visit to Punjab, traveled via Ludhiana before reaching Amritsar. They offered prayers at the Golden Temple and later met the Jathedar at the Akal Takht Secretariat.
The visitors said they were warned before their journey that the situation in Punjab was tense, but upon arrival, they found no signs of fear or danger. They urged people from Himachal to visit Punjab without hesitation and encouraged Punjabis to travel to Himachal without worry.
Meanwhile, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh assured the delegation of their safety in Punjab. He cautioned against attempts by certain elements, including politicians and governments, to disrupt peace.
He also urged that no Himachali should mistreat Punjabis, particularly Sikhs, traveling to Himachal, stressing that any disputes should be handled legally by the administration.
