Lok Sabha election: WhatsApp, social media influencers emerge as political leaders kick off campaigns
New Delhi: As preparations begin for the world’s biggest election festival, political parties are resorting to other social media ‘messaging’ platforms like WhatsApp to psychologically influence voters. Advertising agencies and political pundits gave this information.
Political parties are using social media extensively to publicise their achievements and seek support from voters ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to connect with voters by sending a ‘letter from the Prime Minister’ on WhatsApp and taking ‘feedback’ from voters citing the achievements of the Narendra Modi government.
Meanwhile, the Congress is running a ‘Rahul Gandhi WhatsApp Group’ in which Rahul creates a dialogue with people and answers their questions.
The dissemination of information on WhatsApp is monitored at the district level to ensure that it reaches the people and strengthens the party’s vote base.
