No alliance involving Congress will be supported: SAD
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has refused to support the Congress-led opposition alliance India, saying it will not be part of any alliance that has the Congress in it. “We can never be part of any group or alliance in which the Congress is involved,” said senior SAD leader Naresh Gujral.
This is an in-principle decision of the party in the wake of Operation Blue Star and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. On extending support to the BJP-led NDA, Gujral said, “For this, the BJP has to take the first step. If we get any invitation from the BJP, our core committee will decide but there is no question of supporting the INDIA alliance.”
