Shaili Oberoi re-elected mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation, Mohammad Iqbal elected deputy mayor
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s Shaili Oberoi was re-elected as the Mayor of Delhi today. BJP’s Shikha Roy, who is in the fray, withdrew her candidature. Rai told the House that he took the step because the standing committee elections have not been held. Incumbent deputy mayor Mohammad Iqbal also got another term in the post after BJP candidate Soni Pal withdrew his nomination papers.
Iqbal and Pal were the two rival candidates for the post of deputy mayor. The mayoral election in Delhi was to be a direct contest between incumbent Oberoi and Rai.
