US rules out involvement in India-Pakistan conflict, urges diplomatic resolution

Washington: As tensions between India and Pakistan reach a critical level, US Vice President J.D. Vance has made it clear that Washington will not intervene militarily in the ongoing conflict.

Speaking to media, Vance said, “What we can do is try to encourage these people to reduce a little bit of tension, but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of the war.”

He added that the situation is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and does not warrant direct US involvement. “The US can’t ask the Indians to lay down their arms. We cannot ask the Pakistanis to lay down arms either, and therefore we are pursuing the matter through diplomatic channels,” he said.

Vance, known for advocating the US’s disengagement from foreign conflicts, also expressed hope that the situation would not escalate into a nuclear confrontation.

Meanwhile, Turkey has voiced concern over the deteriorating situation. The Turkish President said his country is monitoring the developments and is attempting to de-escalate tensions diplomatically.

The US had earlier appealed to both India and Pakistan to reduce tensions and maintain dialogue to avoid further escalation.
