Zelensky agrees to meet Putin in Istanbul, hopeful for ceasefire

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday said he is ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks in Istanbul on Thursday, expressing hope for a possible ceasefire to end the ongoing war.

In a post on X, Zelensky wrote that Ukraine is optimistic about the prospects of a ceasefire and is looking forward to the meeting in Turkey.

The announcement comes amid renewed international calls for peace and reports of diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict.
