20 injured in firecracker-related incidents during Diwali in Mohali

Mohali: Diwali celebrations in Mohali took a tragic turn as at least 20 people, many of them children, sustained burn injuries while setting off firecrackers. Several individuals sought medical treatment at local hospitals, with some requiring immediate care before being released.

The city’s fire brigade responded to multiple fire incidents reported in six locations, including a Skoda car in Sector 95 and fires in various areas such as Tangori fields and near Phase-8 Gurudwara Sahib.

Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) Amarinder Pal Sandhu confirmed that fire tenders were on standby across Mohali to handle any emergencies.

The Health Department has deployed special medical teams, while both health and fire officials are urging residents to exercise caution to prevent further accidents during the ongoing festivities.
