4151 jobs provided by PSPCL and PSTCL since April 2022 – Harbhajan Singh ETO

Recruitment of 64 Assistant Engineers done on GATE basis

Chandigarh: Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Wednesday said 4151 new recruitments have been made by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) since April 2022 under the efforts being made by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government to provide employment to the youth of Punjab besides increasing the efficiency of the government institutions by filling the vacant posts.

       Revealing in a press communiqué issued here, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the PSPCL and PSTCL have issued appointment letters to a total of 4087 eligible candidates from April 2022 to September 2023 with an aim to provide better services to their valued consumers. He said that in continuation of this effort, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann handed over appointment letters to 51 electrical cadre and 13 civil cadre assistant engineers during a function held on September 23.

      The Power Minister said that all the recruitments were done through a transparent and fair process. He said that the recruitment of newly recruited 64 Assistant Engineers has been done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE), which is conducted at the national level in a transparent manner.

        Giving details of the recruitments in the Power department, Harbhajan Singh ETO said that out of the total jobs given during the last one and a half year, 2825 jobs were given through direct recruitment and 578 jobs on compassionate basis in PSPCL, whereas, 748 jobs were provided by the PSTCL through direct recruitment.

      The Power Minister said that while the Punjab State Power Corporation limited is illuminating the premises of more than one crore consumers of different categories, the Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited is controlling and reducing power transmission losses as well as providing quality transmission. He said that due to transparent recruitments by these corporations the efficiency of the Power department has increased manifolds.
