AAP rejects allegations of political vendetta in Sukhpal Khaira arrest case, says ‘Action take by police after a throughout probe’
Punjab News: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday unequivocally rejected the allegations of opposition that Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira was arrested today from his house in Chandigarh due to political vendetta by the Punjab government.
Addressing the press conference here, AAP spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that Khaira was facing serious allegations of drug peddling and having association with smugglers and he was facing a case since 2015. The case is before the apex court and after throughout probe Punjab police today arrested him as he was not cooperating in this case.
Rejecting claims of opposition, Kang said that AAP has been running government for the past 1.5 years in Punjab and if it wanted to settle any score with Khaira, they could have arrested him year ago but these are all frivolous allegations levelled by Congress to protect their corrupt leaders. He said that Police only followed proper law and guidelines to arrest Khaira.
