Director Adampur Airport meets Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner to discuss airport issues

DC asks to prepare proposal for direct flights to New Delhi to facilitate NRIs, Industry of Doaba region

Jalandhar: Director Adampur Civil Airport Pushpendra Kumar Nirala met with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Thursday to discuss various issues pertaining to the airport, seeking prompt resolution from the Jalandhar Administration. During the meeting, Dr. Aggarwal assured swift action on the concerns raised by the Director.

Dr. Aggarwal also highlighted the need to start direct flights from Adampur to New Delhi, in addition to the existing routes. He urged the Airport Authority to prepare a proposal for launching these flights, emphasizing that a direct service to the capital would meet the needs of many passengers from the region, especially NRIs and Industry. The DC noted that the lack of a direct flight to New Delhi forces travelers to use other modes of transport, and adding this route would also increase passenger traffic at the airport.

Addressing the issues raised by the Director, Dr. Aggarwal directed the concerned officials to resolve all pending matters swiftly. He ordered the completion of a 4.30 km long access road within two months to ensure easy connectivity to the airport and instructed the relevant departments to expedite land acquisition for the connecting road. Proper signage along the airport road was also emphasized.

Terming Adampur Airport as a significant project for the Doaba region, Dr. Aggarwal stated that the Jalandhar Administration is committed to completing all tasks in a time-bound manner to better serve passengers, especially the NRI community. Security issues discussed with SSP Rural Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh were also assured of prompt action. SDM Balbir Raj Singh was also present on the occasion.
