Bains brothers to join Warring’s nomination in Ludhiana, joined Congress yesterday

Chandigarh: Punjab’s Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) chief, Simarjeet Bains, and his brother Balwinder Bains merged their party with the Congress on Sunday. The brothers joined the Congress after meeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.

The Bains brothers will now campaign for the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat alongside Congress candidate and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who will file his nomination today.

Simarjeet Bains will be present with him during this time. Simarjeet Singh Bains, who began his political career with sitting Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann, had joined the Akali Dal led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. There were several allegations against him in the SAD, and a case was also registered against Bains for assaulting the tehsildar by entering the office.

They quit the party after being denied an election ticket by the Akali Dal. Simarjeet contested from Atma Nagar, and Balwinder from the Ludhiana assembly seat, both winning. Bains formed the Lok Insaaf Party in the 2017 assembly elections and allied with the AAP.

In the assembly elections held in 2022, his party contested alone but could not withstand the wave of AAP and lost.
