BJP begins preparations for by-elections in Punjab, appoints in-charges for four seats

Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for by-elections to four assembly seats in Punjab, following the resignation of sitting MLAs who won in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

The party has appointed election in-charges, co-incharges, and coordinators across 18 divisions.

Avinash Rai Khanna has been appointed in-charge of the Gidderbaha seat, with Diyal Singh Sodhi as co-incharge.

For the Barnala constituency, Manoranjan Kalia will serve as in-charge, while Jagmohan Singh Raju will assist as co-incharge. Shwait Malik has been put in charge of Chabbewal, with Parminder Singh Brar as co-incharge.

Ashwani Sharma has been assigned the Dera Baba Nanak constituency, with Rakesh Rathore as co-incharge. Anil Sarin will oversee the party’s social media efforts.

The by-elections will be held in Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur), Chabbewal (Hoshiarpur), Gidderbaha (Sri Muktsar Sahib), and Barnala (Sangrur) after the respective MLAs resigned following their victories in the Lok Sabha polls. The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly has approved their resignations.

AAP leader Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer are among the MPs who vacated their assembly seats.

Elections are expected soon, and all parties are gearing up to contest the key seats.
