Car carrying woman stuck in Ghaggar water in Old Panchkula

Chandigarh: The woman, along with the car, was caught in the strong current of the Ghaggar river when she had gone to submerge the puja material into the water under the bridge of the old Panchkula Ghaggar here.
    According to the information, the woman had come with her mother to shed material in Ghaggar and pay obeisance. Suddenly the Ghaggar river rose and the water started flowing over the car. When the people around saw it, they struggled a lot and rescued the woman.
The woman was identified as Sangeeta, a resident of Sector 4. People tied ropes to the car and rescued the woman. During this time a crane was called, with the help of which the car was pulled out of the water. People said that there were three people, including a child, in this car.
    Section 144 has been imposed around the Ghaggar river in Panchkula.
    Meanwhile, seven persons were trapped while crossing the Ghaggar in Sector-27 of Panchkula. All of them were on their way from Panchkula to Pir Muchhala in Punjab area when water gushed up on the way and all of them got stuck in the water. With the help of NDRF, these people were pulled out of the water.
