Cases disposed off by way of pre-Institution mediation

Jalandhar News: Following the directions of National Legal Services Authority, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar Nirbhow Singh Gill, several cases were disposed off by way of pre-Institution mediation in the office of DLSA Jalandhar.

        The District and Sessions Judge informed that in one pre-Institution mediation case, the old age couple was residing in old-age home and their sons agreed to pay monthly maintenance to them. In another case, the employer paid the balance amount/salary of the employee.

        Gill further informed that there are various benefits of disposing of the cases through pre-institution mediation. It saves the financial resources and the brotherhood remains intact between the parties. The cases which have yet not been instituted in the courts can be disposed off through pre-Institution mediation.

        Apart from this, the cases which are pending in the court, can also be disposed off by way of Mediation. He also informed that many Judicial Officers and advocates are working as mediators so that their cases can be disposed off on the basis of compromise. Apart from mediation, the cases are also being disposed off in National Lok adalat. The next National Lok Adalat will be held on December 9, 2023.

        The CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA Dr. Gagandeep Kaur informed that compensation is also been paid to the dependants of persons who lost life in road accident cases in which the accused is not traceable. The family members /dependants of deceased can apply to the office of DLSA Jalandhar for compensation. Compensation is also being paid in rape cases, acid attack cases and cases in POCSO Act.
