Centre sanctions Rs 666.81 crore for Pathankot Greenfield Highway in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Union Government has approved Rs 666.81 crore for the construction of the Greenfield Pathankot Link Road in Punjab. The 12.34-km-long highway will connect Talwara Jattan village on NH-44 with Gobindsar village on the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the approval on social media platform X.

Gadkari highlighted the highway’s benefits, stating that it will reduce travel time from one hour to just 20 minutes, alleviating traffic congestion in Pathankot and enhancing travel convenience.

The 4/6-lane Pathankot Link Road is designed to serve as a crucial connector between NH-44 (Delhi-Srinagar), NH-54 (Amritsar-Pathankot), and the under-construction Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway in Jammu and Kashmir. Once completed, it will streamline the route from 53 km to 37 km, significantly reducing peak-hour travel time from 1 hour 40 minutes to just 20 minutes.

This project is expected to not only ease local traffic in Pathankot but also benefit travelers heading towards Jammu and Kashmir, boosting connectivity and regional development.
