CM Bhagwant Mann committed to turn Punjab into an eco-tourism hub

Punjab E News: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is on a mission to transform Punjab into a leading eco-tourism destination, focusing on the state’s natural beauty, rich heritage, and scenic landscapes. With projects spanning from agriculture to tourism, Mann’s initiatives aim to benefit all segments of society, including farmers, youth, and the middle class. The eco-tourism push represents Mann’s commitment to not only promoting tourism but also positively impacting the daily lives of Punjab’s residents.

To boost tourism, the Punjab government has launched several eco-tourism projects highlighting the state’s natural landscapes and historical sites. Each district in Punjab has its own unique cultural and environmental appeal, and the government aims to showcase this diversity to attract visitors.

One significant project focuses on Talwara and the Maili Dam in Hoshiarpur, where the Forest Department plans to establish all-weather huts for camping. A panoramic viewing area, to be known as “Hawa Mahal,” will offer visitors a hilltop view of Talwara. This eco-park, covering one acre, is designed to give tourists a unique perspective of the region.

Mattewara Forests

The Mattewara Forests, situated along the Sutlej River in Ludhiana, will be developed as a major eco-tourism hub. The forest area spans eight separate wooded sections, along with an expansive 2.5-kilometer stretch of greenery. Steps are underway to improve infrastructure and make the Mattewara area a top tourist spot in Punjab.

Chamrod Patan and the Ranjit Sagar Dam

Chamrod Patan, located near the Ranjit Sagar Dam on the borders of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, is another focal point of the government’s eco-tourism strategy. This picturesque area, surrounded by mountains from three states, covers an impressive 57 kilometers and includes a stunning blue lake. Punjab’s eco-tourism project on Kulluwa Island in this region will span 18 acres and feature 20 cottages along with various water sports activities, creating an attractive and sustainable destination for nature lovers.
