CM Mann to shift his residence, know why

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is set to relocate his residence in Jalandhar to the historic Baradari area, situated in the heart of the city. The new government residence, a luxurious kothi previously occupied by Divisional Commissioner Gurpreet Sapra, is being prepared for the Chief Minister following Sapra’s recent transfer.

The Chief Minister’s Office has approved significant infrastructure upgrades for the residence, involving multiple departments, including the Public Works Department, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, and the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.

Enhancements include the construction of peripheral walls, a waiting hall, a shed, and additional parking spaces. The security team has also proposed measures to increase the site’s security, with the kothi located within a high-security zone, close to the residences of the Session Judge and the Deputy Commissioner.

Mann, who previously rented a residence in Jalandhar during the by-election campaign, had promised to maintain a presence in the city post-election.

He committed to regular visits to ensure that the needs of the people from Majha and Doaba regions would be addressed locally, reducing the need for them to travel to Chandigarh.
