Cold War between Governor and government: Governor seeks details of Punjab’s debt
Punjab News: After a hiatus between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Governor Banwarilal Purohit, a cold war has broken out again. The Governor has written a letter to the Chief Minister indirectly raising the issue of mounting debt on Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann had yesterday written a letter seeking the Governor’s approach to the Prime Minister and the President for release of Rs 5,637 crore dues of Punjab’s rural development funds.
The Governor wrote a counter-letter to the Chief Minister, saying he was bound to serve the people of Punjab and had come to know from media reports that the Supreme Court had been approached before you could approach the Raj Bhavan. It would be appropriate to wait for the apex court’s decision before doing anything on the issue.
