Court issues summons to singer Satinder Sartaj over show controversy

Chandigarh: Singer Satinder Sartaj has been summoned by a Kapurthala court to appear before it on October 30. The summons were issued on an application by city-based senior lawyer and player SS Malhi.

The petitioner is opposing the holding of Satinder Sartaj’s show here on November 10 at the ground of the government-run Guru Nanak Stadium.

He said he has filed a complaint in this regard in the court of senior judge Suresh Kumar.

Petitioner Malhi says that most of the tickets of this show have been sold out and thus Sartaj is using the stadium commercially. The applicant pointed out that this is the only stadium in Kapurthala which officially promotes sports and sportspersons.

According to the rules, if someone has to do an event in the stadium, it can be rented out in the public interest and not for commercial events.

District Sports Officer Shashwat Razdan said that they have not yet given permission for this.

The file of this entire program has been prepared and sent to the Director Sports, something can be said only after getting approval from there.

The Punjab State Sports Council has been constituted by the Punjab Government for such events. This committee considers this, which is chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann himself.
