DC BATS FOR MAKING YOUTH ACTIVE PARTNERS IN SOCIO-ECONOMIC GROWTH OF THE STATE

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Vishesh Sarangal today underscored the need for channelizing the unbounded energy of youth in a positive direction to make them partners in the socio-economic growth of the country and the state.

The deputy commissioner on Thursday inaugurated Utkansh 2024 festival in the premises of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology in a spectacular ceremony. The event kicked off with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the Chief Guest’s formal declaration, and a heartwarming token of love extended to Mr. Sarangal.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner underscored that the abundant energy of the youth need to be harnessed for betterment of the country, for which such youth festivals could play an important role.

Mr. Sarangal further said that cultural festivals could played a pivotal role in grooming youth for various activities in the arena of music, dance, theatre and others at national and international arena. He pointed out that the hardworking Punjabi youth were known across the globe for their enterprising skill, resilience and acumen since long. He said that it was why that the Punjabi youth have made enormous contribution towards the socio economic development not only in their state, country but also globally. He urged the students to work hard immensely during this phase of life for a better future so that they can make their parents and entire state proud with their success.

Director NIT Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia apprised the deputy commissioner about this annual event. He mentioned that “UTKANSH”, is the annual cultural festival of NIT Jalandhar, recognized as one of the greatest cultural festivals of North India.  The fest is an amalgamation of music, dance, drama, comedy etc. The cultual events include fine art exhibition, photography exhibition, bhangra fiesta, dance competitions, music competitions, literary, debate events, dramatics performances and many more during day time, along with mega night events like Rock band performances, fashion show, BDM Night and Star night.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Dean Prof Subash Chandra, Dean (Student Welfare) Prof Anish Sachdeva, Prof S. Bajpai, Dr. Gaurav Tandon, and Saurav Gupta. Earlier, the entire faculty of NIT Jalandhar welcomed the Deputy Commissioner upon his arrival the campus.
