DC JALANDHAR TO CALL PROPERTY BUYERS TO COLLECT FEEDBACK ON THEIR REGISTRATION EXPERIENCES AT SUB REGISTRAR OFFICES

Jalandhar: In a bid to collect feedback from property buyers, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today launched a unique initiative wherein he would randomly make phone calls to property buyers who had sought property registration services across all sub-registrar officers in the district. The deputy commissioner said that these random phone calls would be made to ensure that applicants were getting these revenue services smoothly and they had not been asked to pay extra money for their registration work.

Chairing a meeting with ADC, SDMs, and Sub-Registrars here at the district administrative complex, the deputy commissioner asked them to prepare a list of property buyers and sellers and submit it to his office on a daily basis. The names, mobile numbers, and other important information about the applicants should be displayed in the list so that he can make random calls to them, said the DC, adding the move aimed at ensuring people were getting these services in a smooth and hassle-free manner. In his phone calls, the DC would ask applicants a few questions including how much time it took to complete the registration procedure, whether any tout, agent, deed writer or revenue official demanded bribes/extra money from them, etc.

Mr. Sarangal said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government has adopted a Zero-Tolerance policy against corruption and stringent measures have already been taken in the state to curb corrupt practices. In furtherance of this mission, the administration has launched this drive to collect feedback from applicants who have sought registration services at Sub Registrar offices, he said. The deputy commissioner also stated that he has deputed his personal staff to collect lists from sub-registrars of property buyers/sellers and prepare a compiled report daily evening. He categorically mentioned that if any discrepancy is reported in providing registration services on the part of revenue officials, and deed writers, strict action would be initiated against the responsible persons as per law. He reiterated the district administration’s resolve to provide citizen services smoothly and no stone would be left unturned to achieve this goal. He also asked the sub-registrars to keep a close vigil over touts and agents within their premises who tend to allure people to get their work done through unauthorized means so that strict action could be initiated against such persons.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Amit Mahajan, Sub Divisional Magistrates Vikas Heera, Balbir Raj Singh, Sub Registrars Pradeep Kumar, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Tehsildar Rupinder Singh Ball, Nayab Tehsildar, Gunayab Singh, and other revenue officials were present in the meeting.
