DC reviews healthcare services at Civil Hospital

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today said that as per directions issued by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Civil Surgeon, SMOs and Medical Superintendent will ensure that no patient has to take medicine from outside the government hospital as the district administration has already ensured sufficient supply of all essential medicines to all the government hospitals for free-of-cost availability of these medicines to patients. 

     Deputy commissioner today visited the Civil Hospital to ensure proper implementation of these directions wherein he took stock of the healthcare facilities being provided to patients here.

     The DC reviewed the stock of medicines, medical facilities at the civil hospital, and also took valuable feedback from visitors. He also listened to the problems faced by patients and directed the health officials to resolve them immediately. 
     He told the civil surgeon and SMOs that there were instructions from the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann that no patient should go out of the government hospital to buy medicines. He categorically stated that all the doctors must ensure that they will only prescribe the medicines available in the government hospitals to the patients as all the necessary medicines have already been supplied in the hospitals.  
     The Deputy Commissioner also said that if any medicine was not available in the hospital’s stock, then funds have been released to SMOs for the purchase so that the medicine can be purchased and given to the patient as per the requirement. 
 
     He also said that X-ray and ultrasound facilities be provided in government hospitals adding that as many as 43 private institutions have also been authorized for X-ray and ultrasound where patients can get X-ray and ultrasound facilities as per government rate. 
  
    He also mentioned that the prescribed fee for X-ray and ultrasound will be deposited only at the government hospital and people need not to pay any kind of fee at the private institution. Of these 43 organizations, about 21 institutions have already started working while the remaining will start working within the next few days.
 
    He also instruct Civil Surgeon, SMOs to ensure regular visits of District Hospital, PHCs and CHCs so that the directions of the worthy Chief Minister can be implemented in letter and spirit.
 
    Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also held a meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Major Dr. Amit Mahajan, ADC (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Civil Surgeon, and all SMOs.
