Education department launches Portal to provide international training to principals: Harjot Singh Bains

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar: Fulfilling its promise of providing international standards education environment to students studying in the government schools of the state, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to send school principals in the renowned institutes of Singapore, Principal’s Academy and National Institute of Education for training.

Divulging further information, Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that as per the decision, in the first phase, two groups of school principals to be sent for training in the renowned institutes of Principal’s Academy and National Institute of Education in Singapore.

S. Bains said that the selection process of principals will be transparent and willing teachers can apply online from today on the portal of the education department. This portal will remain open till 26 December 2022.

He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab S. Bhagwant Mann’s effort of creating awareness by video message among students, their parents and teachers of government schools, reflects that the dogged commitment of Punjab government towards reforming the education system.

On this occasion, Varinder Kumar Sharma Director General School Education and Tejdeep Singh Saini Director Education Department Punjab were also present with him.

Encouraging all the education officials and school heads, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the parent-teacher meeting to be held on December 24 will set a new benchmark where Punjab government’s efforts to improve school education will be further discussed.

Along with this, he appealed to Punjab MLAs, all Deputy Commissioners, SDMs, Education Officers from Head Office and District Education Officers to participate in parent-teacher meetings of government schools on this day.

Motivating the group of school heads and teachers, he said that extraordinary work has been performed in the government schools, however, ill-conceived policies of the previous governments did not provide sufficient support to staff. School heads and teachers must share their plans with parents and also take their feedback to transform the existing education system.
