Farmers march to gherao Punjab CM’s house in Sangrur, Police-farmers clash
Chandigarh: Farmers’ organizations in Punjab have voiced their support for blogger Bhana Sidhu, who was arrested for allegedly blackmailing a travel agent.
On Saturday, 15 farmer organizations announced the gherao of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Sangrur. Upon discovery, the police placed farmer leaders in Sangrur and Mansa under house arrest. Additionally, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi, en route to Sangrur, was halted.
Upon learning of these events, farmer organizations expressed anger and declared the closure of toll plazas in various districts, including Amritsar and Bathinda. Simultaneously, they initiated road blockades. Police are halting Sangrur-bound buses and apprehending farmers, leading to the blockage of the Ludhiana-Delhi highway.
In response to the protests, barricades have been set up outside the CM House in Sangrur, sealing it off. Farmer leaders assert that Bhana Sidhu sought to refund money to fraud victims exclusively from travel agents.
