Farmers’ protest at Ladowal toll barrier continues for second day

Chandigarh: The farmers’ unions continued their sit-in at the Ladowal toll barrier for the second day today with motorists passing through it without paying toll. Toll company officials said that on an average 40,000 vehicles cross the barrier in 24 hours and it is estimated that there is a daily loss of Rs 1 crore.

Ladowal toll is the most expensive toll plaza in Punjab. It costs Rs 220 for a one-way trip of the car. Not only this, if a vehicle does not have fast-tag, then it will have to pay a tax of Rs 430 only for one-way travel. The rates of this toll have been increased thrice in the last one year.
