FIR in Kapurthala Gurdwara sacrilege case, Accused arrested

Kapurthala: The Kapurthala police on Friday arrested a man in connection with the sacrilege case at Gurdwara Sahib in Bhagwanpur village. The police have registered a case against the accused.

Angry over the incident, the protest being staged outside the government hospital in Bholath ended late at night after the case was registered.

SSP Kapurthala claimed that the atmosphere is peaceful after the case was registered.

A youth was arrested on Friday afternoon on charges of sacrilege at Sri Gurudwara Sahib in Bhagwanpur village of Bhulath area. The angry mob also thrashed the young man after overpowering him.

The accused was admitted to a government hospital in an injured condition. Following the incident, the situation in the area turned tense and Sikh organisations staged a sit-in outside the Bholath hospital.
