Former minister Dharamsot gets interim bail till June 5 on Kejriwal’s lines

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted relief to former Congress minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. The High Court has issued interim bail to former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot until June 5.

Dharamsot has been granted interim bail by the court to campaign along the lines of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

During the hearing of the former minister’s bail application, the court, while granting interim bail, stated in the order that Dharamsot would need to deposit a bail bond of Rs 50,000 and comply with the condition of not leaving the country without the court’s permission.

During the arguments, Dharamsot’s counsel referenced the Supreme Court’s interim bail order for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for campaigning.

The ED had arrested Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a disproportionate assets case. Dharamsot was arrested by the ED in January in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Dharamsot is alleged to have earned Rs 2.37 crore during the period when he was the forest minister from March 2016 to March 2022, while spending Rs 8.76 crore.

The sources from which he spent more than his income are under investigation. Dharamsot was summoned by the ED for investigation, but he only complied when he went to the office to join the probe. The ED stated that he was not cooperating with the investigation.
