Giani Raghbir Singh condemns assassination attempt on Sukhbir Badal in Darbar Sahib

Amritsar: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has strongly denounced the recent firing incident targeting Sukhbir Singh Badal while he was serving as a watchman near the ghanta ghar side of Sri Darbar Sahib.

Singh said that the attack was not merely on Badal but on the sanctity of the service being rendered at the holy site.

He called for a thorough investigation to uncover the masterminds behind the act, noting that the bullet fired struck the Charan Ganga section.

Despite the attack, Sukhbir Singh Badal continued his religious service. He later participated in kirtan inside Sri Harmandir Sahib and served the jutthas of devotees in the langar ghar, accompanied by his wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami also condemned the incident, describing it as a painful and irresponsible act.

He expressed deep concern over the targeting of Badal during a sacred service, calling it a manifestation of anti-Panthic mentality and a violation of the directives of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Advocate Dhami further criticized the Punjab government and police for their failure to maintain law and order, calling the attack a glaring example of security lapses in the state. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
