Harbhajan Singh ETO directs officials of PWD to speed up the ongoing development works

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has issued directions to the officials of various departments to accelerate the pace of ongoing development works in the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is constantly monitoring the development works being carried out by all the departments. As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh (ETO) today held a meeting with all the chief engineers of the department and Saktar Singh Ball, Joint Secretary, Public Works Department was also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO issued strict directions to the officials to speed up the ongoing development works in the state. He also said that the quality of work should be ensured and government money should be fairly spent for development works in a transparent manner. Along with this, the Public Works Minister also said that the government has no shortage of funds for public welfare and development works.

The PWD minister also reviewed the status of tenders for new works during the meeting and issued instructions for early allotment of works so that development works can be expedited by utilizing the available funds. Along with this, the reasons for the delay in the already ongoing works were also reviewed.

The officials of the department brought to the attention of the Public Works Minister regarding the less availability of construction materials like sand, gravel, gutka etc. due to the long administrative approval process. Taking immediate action, the Minister directed to send proposals regarding to simplify the administrative approval process in this regard and to provide some funds for immediate development works even to the level of the Executive Engineer.
