HC stays Presidentship of Barnala Municipal Council

Chandigarh News: In the municipal council here, the district administration conducted the election of the president under the leadership of the SDM. 
      On this occasion, 18 councillors elected Rupinder Singh Sheetal as the president of the Municipal Council, but the Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed the election and fixed the matter for further hearing on October 31. Due to this, Rupinder Sheetal got the presidency for a few hours.

Pertinently, Gurjit Singh Aulakh had moved the High Court after being removed from the post of President. On the other hand, a meeting was held by the Deputy Commissioner under the leadership of SDM today regarding the new election. After electing Sheetal as the president, Gurjit Singh Aulakh approached the High Court, which in a major relief, issued a stay order on the new election and posted the matter of removal of Gurjit Singh Aulakh by the Local Government Department on October 31.
