Karnataka Vidhan Sabha Delegation led by Speaker visits Punjab Legislative Assembly
Chandigarh: To get first hand information about the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project specifically implemented for the first time in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Karnataka Vidhan Sabha Delegation led by Speaker on Wednesday visited Punjab Assembly and meet Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
   The delegation comprising Speaker Karnataka Legislative Assembly (KLA) U.T. Khader Fareed, Secretary Karnataka Legislative Council (KLC) Mrs. K.R. Mahalakshmi,, Secretary KLA Mrs. M.K. Vishalakshi, Private Secretary to Speaker KLA Mr. Mahesh Karjagi, Advisor to Speaker KLA Mr. Omprakasha, Additional Secretary KLC Mrs. S. Nirmala, Director (IT) KLA Mr. J.E. Shashidhar, Special Officer to Chairman KLC Mrs. K.D. Shyla, Chief Editor of Debates KLA Mr. M. Shashikanth.
   Speaking on the occasion at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, Speaker S. Sandhwan said that the entire work of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha included functioning of the sessions is being accomplished through completely digital and paperless manner. He said that by conducting a two-day National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) conference-cum-workshop, all MLAs and Administrative Secretaries were imparted training about the working of this new system. He said that a digital wing has been set up to make the functioning of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha hi-tech and connect it with modern tools of communication like IT in digital wing Cell, NIC Cell, Hi-Tech Training Room (Neva Service Centre), Hi-Tech Control Room, Network Control Room.
    The speaker said that participation of common man in law making process increased with the use of Neva app through live webcasting of the proceedings and the entire working of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has also become easier. He said that the papers are also being presented in the House through electronic method.
    Meanwhile, Karnataka Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. U.T. Khader Fareed said that the National e-Vidhan Application is an efficient system, through which the overall functioning of the Punjab Legislative Assembly running in smooth and seamless method. He said that they are thinking to implement such a system in Karnataka Vidhan Sabha on the pattern of Punjab and they have received important information from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha which will be useful for them. On this occasion, the delegation also visited the House and tried hand on i-Pad and got first hand information about the working of NeVA App.
   Earlier, Mr. Vivek Sharma, SIO (NIC) with the support of his team gave a special presentation to the delegation, sharing detailed information about the Application. Every query raised by the members of the delegation regarding Neva App, answered by the NIC team. On this occasion, Speaker S. Sandhwa also honored the members of the delegation.
   On this occasion, Secretary Punjab Vidhan Sabha Mr. Ram Lok Khatana and various Senior Officials of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha were also present.
