Ludhiana among 100 polluted cities in India: CREA report reveals

Chandigarh: Ludhiana ranks 51st among the 100 polluted cities in the country. Among the polluted cities of Punjab, Mandi Gobindgarh is number one and Ludhiana is second. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Ludhiana recorded an AQI of 40 on July 6, which falls in the good air quality category with minimal impact on health.

A study conducted by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) placed Ludhiana among the top 100 most polluted cities in the country in the first half of 2024.

Ludhiana’s air quality was assessed on the basis of PM 2.5 value, which is a measure of microns (micrograms per cubic meter of air. The CREA study used PM 2.5 values from CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board)
