Meet Hayer visits Kajauli Water Works, Tricity will not face any problem with regard to water supply

Instructs Speedy Repair of Damaged Pipelines

Morinda: Punjab Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Wednesday visited Kajauli Water Works and reviewed the work of water supply to the Tricity. The minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Preeti Yadav, SSP Vivek Sheel Soni and officials of Water Resources and Water Supply Departments.

Meet Hayer while directing the speeding up of the repair work of the damaged pipelines, said that water supply to Mohali, Chandigarh and Chandimandar is a top priority. He said that the safety of water pipes should be ensured in case of any untoward situation with the possibility of more rain in the coming days.

Meet Hayer said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the relief work is continuing on a war footing and as a precaution advance arrangements are also being made. The repair work is being helped by receding the water level. The department officials are engaged in the repair work of the pipelines.

It may be recalled that out of the five pipelines with a capacity of 120 million gallons per day to provide drinking water to the Tricity from Bhakra Main Line through Kajauli water works, one pipe of Punjab Water Supply Department was damaged while one pipeline of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has been completely damaged. Both the pipelines have a capacity of 20 million gallons per day.
