National Lok Adalat Disposed off 38497 cases

Awards of Rs.40,45,60,049 were passed by the different benches

Jalandhar: As per schedule of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and under guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cucm -chairman DLSA Jalandhar, National Lok Adalat was organized on 09.03.2024 in Jalandhar.

In this Lok Adalat, in which total 40,500 pre-litigative and pending Criminal Compoundable Offences, NI Act cases under Section-138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour disputes, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity and Water Bills (Excluding non-compoundable theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and Retiral benefits, Revenue Cases and other Civil Cases (Rent, Easmentary Rights, injunction Suits, specific performance suits) were taken up.
In this National Lok Adalat, 20 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were being presided over by Sh. Dharminder Paul Singla, Sh.Vineet Kumar Narang, Ld. Addl. District and Sessions Judges, Sh.Amit Kumar Garg, Civil Judge (Senior Division), Dr.Gagandeep Kaur, CJM, Ms.Shagun, Sh. Amandeep Singh Ghuman, Ms.Ramandeep Kaur, Sh. Ravinder Singh Rana, Ms. Heena Aggarwal, Sh.Manik Kaura, Sh. Reetbrinder Singh Dhaliwal, Ms.Srijan Shukla, Ms. Babaljit Kaur , Ms. Rasveen Kaur, Ms. Renuka Kalra, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Sh.Mohinder Partap Singh Libra all the Civil Judges, Sh.Jagdeep Singh Marok, Chairman Permanent Lok Adalat ( Public Utility Services), Ms. Harveen Bhardwaj President Counsumer Disputes Redressal Commission Jalandhar and Sh. Rupinder Singh Bal Tehsildar-1, Jalandhar.
Besides this, 4 benches at Sub-Division, Phillaur and Nakodar were also constituted and at Phillaur it was these were presided over by Ms. Meenakshi Gupta, SDJM Phillaur and Sh.Gurmehtab Singh Civil Judge (Junior Division) Phillaur. At Nakodar benches were presided over by Ms. Ekta Sahota SDJM Nakodar and Ms.Khushdeep Kaur Civil Judge (Junior Division) Nakdoar
For the successful organization of this National Lok Adalat, Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge had called various meetings of judicial officers, Presidents and Secretaries of the Bar Associations Jalandhar, Nakodar and Phillaur, officials of other Departments i.e. Banks, Electricity Department, Labour Department, Insurance Companies etc. to sensitize them about the National Lok Adalat. They were also motivated and instructed to identify maximum number of cases which could be taken up in the National Lok Adalat and to make maximum efforts for disposal of the same in the Pre-Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat.  
Sh. Baljinder Singh Mann, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar informed that in this National Lok Adalat, 40,500 cases were taken up out of which 38497 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards of an amount of Rs.40,45,60,049/- were passed by the different Lok Adalat benches. He also informed that couples who were living separately and litigating against each other were reunited in the National Lok Adalat with the efforts of Presiding Officer and its Members. The counseling sessions for their settlement were organized in the pre-Lok Adalats and after such counseling, they finally agreed to live together by resolving their all disputes and differences. They were felicitated with one sapling each and were motivated to grow the plant and maintain good relationship.
