Navjot Sidhu’s appearance in Ludhiana court postponed

Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu’s appearance in Ludhiana court has been postponed. He was medically examined at the hospital, in which he was declared unfit. Sidhu was admitted to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala yesterday after his health deteriorated.

Sidhu was to testify in the case of a petition filed by former DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon against former Food Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was lodged in Patiala Jail on the previous day, demanded security before the production in Ludhiana district. Not only this, also ask the Punjab government and SSP Patiala to promise security.

Earlier, the CJM Court had summoned Sidhu as a witness by issuing a production warrant against him.

He earlier demanded to record the statement through video conferencing. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also announced to provide security to Sidhu after he expressed concern for his security.

CM Mann in a tweet yesterday said, “Navjot Singh Sidhu will appear before the Ludhiana court tomorrow as a witness in a corruption case filed by an extortionist. Instructions have been issued to provide him all possible security.”
