Navjot Sidhu’s wife alleges Rs 2 crore fraud by NRI and associates

Chandigarh: Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, former MLA and wife of ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, has accused a US-based NRI and several others of defrauding her of over Rs 2 crore in a property deal.

The case, involving the sale of an SCO property on Ranjit Avenue, is currently being investigated by the Economic Offences (EO) Wing.

Dr. Sidhu has alleged that NRI Angad Pal Singh, along with his maternal uncles Mangal Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, orchestrated the fraud.

She further claimed that her former personal assistant Gaurav and his associate Jagjit Singh played key roles in the scheme.

The dispute arose when Angad Pal Singh proposed selling SCO No. 10 at Ranjit Avenue. An agreement was signed between Sidhu’s representative, Sushil Rawat, and Angad’s representative, Vishal Kaur.

Dr. Sidhu transferred Rs 1.2 crore to Angad’s account as an advance payment and provided additional amounts through cheques, which were reportedly cashed by Gaurav and handed over to Angad’s agent.

Despite repeated assurances that the property registration would be completed, the accused allegedly delayed the process, citing various excuses.

In February 2023, a temporary power of attorney for the property was granted in the name of Dr. Sidhu’s daughter, Rabia, but the registration did not proceed as promised.

Further action in the case is expected as investigations continue.
