No consensus on pet dogs law in Chandigarh: Councilors protest in House

Chandigarh News: The decision on pet and community dog draft 2023 to be made on dogs in Chandigarh has been postponed. It was included in the agenda in the municipal corporation meeting, but many types of suggestions were given by the councillors.  After that, it has been agreed to present it in the next meeting after improvement.
Chandigarh has so far a provision to have only two pet dogs, but in this draft it was increased to 3. The condition was that if a person wants to raise a third dog, then he will have to adopt the community dog. The person can raise him as a third dog.
In the corporation meeting, it was suggested by the councillors that the number of dogs should be determined according to the area and the size of the house. If a landlord has more space, he should be allowed to raise more dogs. There should also be a law according to flat and small house owners.
The draft also had a provision for registration of pet shopkeepers, pet breeders and pet caretakers. Also, there is a provision for fines on owners of dogs who spread dirt in the open.
